A few days ago I wrote a small piece on the new Alien: Blackout trailer, it’s release and a lot of speculation on my part. Going as far to say, “Read. Play. Watch., it seems there will be a push for more installments in the Alien franchise soon.“, which I was later confirmed as this tweet seems to suggest:

In a recent interview by Variety with the Vice President of external development at FoxNext, TQ Jefferson, stated, “ReadWatchPlay is referring to individual entries for each one,” going further to say, “It’s exploring different elements of Amanda Ripley’s saga. ‘Alien: Blackout’ is a standalone premium mobile game. It’s not promotional for any other component of the Alien franchise.” This dispels any rumors of another game coming this November or December.
However, TQ then goes on to say, “The slogan is the rallying cry for the activity that is going to touch upon Amanda Ripley’s story in the immediate future.” From this, we can assume there will be a new game within the next year or two, possibly alongside the news that came in the FoxNext press release stating, “FoxNext Games’ studio, Cold Iron Studios, is also currently at work on a massively multiplayer online shooter set in the Alien cinematic universe for consoles and PC.” It seems there are, at least, two games coming very soon.
Though like many of you, I wanted some news to the effect of another Alien: Isolation. On that TQ said “It is not that binary… There are a lot of stories we can tell in the franchise. We can tell more stories about Amanda Ripley without it being an ‘Isolation’ game.“, he continued saying that “Alien: Isolation 2” is not currently in development. Though there have been many rumors before the announcement of Blackout that it itself would be the sequel we have been waiting for.
Speculation still runs rampant as the 40th Anniversary of Alien is this Coming May 25th, though some believe the ‘true’ Alien day is April 26th. There could be further announcements in the following months about the already announced games or further titles to come. We will have to wait until then to find out.
